1. How long is a session?

Each cycle is three minutes. Some people notice relief in one cycle. For acute conditions, start at one cycle (three minutes) on the first day. For chronic conditions, a maximum of up to nine minutes of treatment is recommended on one body part. Be sure to change the position and rotation of the coils every three minutes for best results. You can repeat another nine minute cycle on a different area of the body. It is not recommended to exceed three cycles of nine minutes during a session. For first time users, start slow with a maximum of twelve minutes total to avoid a possibly mild detoxifying reaction.

2. Is more intensity better?

In most cases, greater intensity yields greater benefits. Blockages, scarring and trauma to the connective tissue, ligaments, etc. may be at a very deep level in the body part being treated. The magnetic field emanating from the coil radiates only so far, because the body’s skin, muscles, sinew, fat, bone and muscle tissues further impede the penetration of the magnetic field. When using a high powered PEMF device, the level of penetration deepens with increases in the intensity setting. However, if the head or face is to be treated, a much lower intensity should be employed by the Pulse because these areas of the body are more sensitive. As well, if one has a fresh, traumatic injury or surgery on the area being treated, a lower intensity should be used to avoid aggravating of any tissue already traumatized. A good rule of thumb is comfort level. You should never experience any discomfort during a Pulse session. If so, lower the intensity. Every body is different. Every session is like starting over again because the body will have changed from one session to the next because of the treatment and external factors. Let your body tell you what it needs.

3. How often should a body part be treated for long term results?

As you may have already experienced, close to 95% of users experience short term results on the Pulse technology. For long term results, each person’s pain, affliction or injury has its own unique blueprint, so there is no set amount of treatment for anyone. It is best to first identify the cause of pain and evaluate the level of damage that is present in order to gather an idea of how long it will take to achieve significant relief or long term results. Obviously, long term chronic pain may require a dozen treatments, spread out over a three to four week period. In most cases, relief is immediate, yet some pain or lack of range of motion might return between treatments within 24 hours, or in 2 days or in 2 weeks with chronic conditions. Our research shows approximately 20% long term results which is cumulative after each treatment.

Just as with any modality, long term results are enhanced when additional factors at hand are addressed. For example, relief from Tendonitis might occur in one treatment, but if the person goes back to the activity which aggravated the condition in the first place, more than likely, the condition will return. With a recent condition, for example you woke up with a stiff neck, one treatment may be sufficient. Many testimonials describe relief from other conditions in just a few treatments as well.

4. I feel like I am being treated by a “TENS” unit. Why do my muscles contract?

If you’ve ever used an Electro-Stim or “TENS” device, your first treatment on the Pulse may feel very similar. A TENS device uses the selected area of the body to actually conduct current. The electrical current is what causes your muscles to contract. The high powered Pulse technology radiates a very strong pulsed electromagnetic field into the entire body part that the magnetic coil is placed over. Thus, the nerves of the muscle lying deep beneath the magnetic coils are stimulated, which cause cellular contractions and are felt in the muscles near the magnetic coil.

5. I noticed the Pulse has an irregular pattern. Why is that?

The Pulse technology is designed to specifically deliver a slightly irregular pulse pattern. This continually ‘tricks the body” by not allowing it to habituate to an even pattern of pulses and muscular contractions.

6. Can proper nutrition influence the results of a treatment?

It is hard to heal depleted tissues. Nutrition needs to be sound and supplements may be very helpful. Since many the PEMF effects are mediated through ions, especially calcium, sodium, and potassium, we recommend these ions and electrolytes need to be at normal levels in the body prior to treatment to achieve the best results. A quick solution is to drink a glass of ionized mineralized water prior to a treatment.

7. Are there side effects, especially if “over treated”?

This is the beauty of the Pulse: there are no side effects if used properly. Sometimes the patient might feel some tingling due to improved circulation but this is no contraindication. Some people have a nice warm and comfortable feeling during the therapy session.

However, if you over use the system, for example provide fifteen minutes of treatment on one particular body part, in some cases your muscles may feel sore the next day, similar to how you would feel after an extensive workout. This is a result of the muscles contracting with each pulse. Or you may experience mild detoxification symptoms such as slight nausea or a headache. The cells become more permeable when treated which releases toxins that are locked away in the fat cells. That is why it is very important to drink plenty of water before and after a treatment, in order to flush the system of these released toxins. Remember, the Pulse technology achieves results in a very short period of time. You are no longer delivering additional positive effects to a particular body part if treated for more than 10-12 minutes in one area. Stay within the recommended usage to ensure the most positive outcomes.

And remember, exposure to PEMFs is a bit like throwing stones in a pond. The ripples carry on for approximately 72 hrs. after the exposure. It takes time for the harmonics to play themselves out and to feel all of the benefits.

8. What are the precautions or contraindications that I should be aware of?

Despite the recognized safety of the Pulse, we recommend not using the technology with the following conditions:

  • Pregnancy
  • Pacemakers or other implanted stimulators
  • Organ Transplants
  • Medications (see details below)
  • Active bleeding or excessive menstruation
  • Neurological diseases with seizures
  • Malignancies (little research has been done in this area)
  • Going into surgery within 36 hrs.
  • Following surgery (only use low intensity)
  • Low blood pressure (watch when first standing after a session)

When using the Pulse, be sure you remove the following items. If not, they will be de-magnetized:

  • Credit cards
  • Smart keys
  • Computers
  • Cell phone
  • Watch
  • Wearing chains (other jewelry ok)

With any pre-existing condition or with the use of medications, you should consult your Physician before using any product.

9. Is it safe to use the Pulse if I’m taking medications?

The Pulse strongly affects various physiologic processes and enzyme and chemical actions in the body, which may interact with medications. Since magnetic fields open cell membrane channels, medications, supplements and nutrients may more easily gain access to cells. As a result, many users have reported feeling an increase effect from their medication; therefore begin sessions with only a 3-6 minute cycle if approved by a doctor.

In most cases, an increased effect is not a concern. PEMF therapy has allowed many people to reduce or eliminate the use of medications. However some medications have very narrow toxicity profiles and require close monitoring, including regular or frequent testing. These may include blood sugar levels in those on insulin, where blood sugars tend to run in a low range of normal, seizure medications, some medications for serious neurological conditions or medications for major heart rhythm disturbances may require closer monitoring with the initiation of treatment, especially whole body or where more intense magnetic field strength are being used. If there is a concern about the use of PEMFs and interactions with medications, consultation with your doctor is recommended.

In most cases this type of interaction is desirable, since medications, nutrients or supplements may be more effective because they access the cells better. In many cases, the amount of medication can be reduced and still get the same effect. This has been seen to be true for chemotherapy for cancer, where the chemotherapy appears to be more effective when combined with PEMF therapy. It is presumed that this is because the chemotherapy is able to penetrate the cancer cell membranes better. Likewise, people on pain or depression medication have been able to reduce or entirely eliminate their dependence upon pain medication. However, you should not alter any medication without consulting your doctor.

10. Do I need to protect myself against electromagnetic fields (EMFs)?

There are good and bad EMFs. Beneficial manmade EMFs such as the Pulse technology frequencies are biologically identical to the frequencies created by the cells, organs, bone and tissues of the body. Delivered to the body by the magnetic fields, they are nontoxic.

We are also surrounded with non-natural man made EMF’s from power lines, computer terminals, microwave ovens, TV’s, cell phones, hair dryers, electrical blankets and other electronic devices. Evidence is showing that these man-made EMFs are contributing to a subtle assault on people’s energy balance and overall health. This new form of pollution, “Electrosmog”, has become a real threat in modern life.

At the same time, not being exposed to naturally occurring EMFs can have a negative impact on health, for they function as a kind of energy nutrient. Kyoichi Nakagawa, M.D., director of the Isuzu Hospital in Tokyo, Japan, observes that the amount of time people now spend in buildings and cars (tightly enclosed spaces) reduces their exposure to the geomagnetic field of the earth and may interfere with their health. Dr. Nakagawa calls this condition "magnetic field deficiency syndrome", noting it can cause headaches, dizziness, muscle stiffness, chest pain, insomnia, constipation, and general fatigue. The Pulse uses specifically designed and biologically identical electromagnetic frequencies that can be used extensively on the body over a period of time to promote the natural and beneficial action of the body.
